Re: the "nothing ever happens" brigade
A mate of mine at the beginning of the Ukraine war was absolutely certain that the whole thing was an elaborate hoax. Film sets etc. look how realistic saving private Ryan was blah blah blah.

Sent some video of some English conspiracy Chod walking around Kyiv going “look, no people, no war. Can’t even hear explosions”

All at the same time that the rape and murder in Bucha was happening just a few miles up the road.

He’s now reverted to “Zelensky the fucking Jew’s taking all our money” and “Azov are Nazis”

Er….

Covid has a lot to answer for.

Having said all that. I’m increasingly glad I didn’t take that fucking vaccine.

I work with someone who unless he seen it with his own eyes it never happened... even 9/11... not that the Jews might have done it... or steel burns at 1879 degrees etc... it didn't happen... the twin towers are still there... apparently as he was told by some people on twitter... or something. Also one of our Sunday footy lot believes that the earth is flat... loads of vids on You Tube proving it.... apparently

Mr Anon it's actually a mental health issue now,and it's called Conspiracy Theory Disorder
Talkingshite Miike is probably the best example on here of that,as Manuel replied to him with the wait and see reply is 100% spot on.

"they just believe everything they read in telegram groups rather than a newspaper"

no idea what telegram is, but if you still think newspapers tell the truth then you're beyond help. I get the feeling if you'd been about a few hundreds years ago, you would have been quite comfortable with a neighbour being burnt at the stake for thinking different

Do you just fall over?

I agree with almost everything you say, Mr Anon, but surely you'd have to be hopped up on Victory Gin and pathetically compliant to believe that bears are real.

Er, gravity just is.

You need to believe in gravity to survive? Will you float off if you don't? Would solve a few problems...

These types of people don't exist

You only need to believe in a few things to survive. Gravity for example.

Everything else is just chit chat to pass the time.

It's concerning the number of people that jump on these now. There's a healthy level of suspicion and then there's these nut jobs. I have to wonder about these COVID conspiracy types of which there are a lot, who actually stands to gain from this? Do you really think that the gov are injecting nanobots into people? Do you really think drug companies that are already caked up would go such a high risk route for extra profit? It's actually funny that northerners were smashing up 5g masts though I have to say.

I agree with you but probably not in the way you might think.
Heard a really interesting programme on the radio last week which examined the history of zoonotic viral pandemics.
They crop up sometimes in wild animal populations with bats being particular prone due them sleeping close together in large numbers in confined spaces. These are perfect conditions for mutations to happen due to fast cycles of infection and reinfection.
The large majority though were due to human poultry farming as these accidentally recreate those perfect conditions for fast virus mutation. This was first recognised in the late nineteenth century as fowl plague which leads to cross-infection in wild bird populations which then jumps species as dead wild birds get eaten by scavengers and sometimes to humans for the saem reason albeit eating infected farmed birds.
MERS was a similar story but started in camel auctions where the animals were corralled close together for a long time.

''I'm much more worried about the nodding dog types that believe everything they're told and question nothing''

The thing is though that is the standard defense that crackpots use as their argument when you question them ''wake up'' they say, in utter confidence that they are the clued up streetwise one and you are the gullible idiot, it's actually pretty fucking offensive, and when you ask them so when will this thing happen or when will you be proved to be correct the answer is always ''wait and see'' so they just keep saying that indefinitely with the knowledge that you can't actually prove them wrong that it won't happen. Mental.

We are catching up to USA where their conspiracy theorists are stark raving mad.

Cue Matt Le Tissier who has definitely lost the plot

Re: the "nothing ever happens" brigade
Social media seems to have made idiocy contagious, and the echo chamber nature of it reinforces the strength of their convictions.

I can understand teenagers believing in conspiracy theories about everything, because a) they find reality boring and b) they're very gullible. Sad when adults do the same.
